Our Mission

The mission of Minot Area Dollars for Scholars is to provide financial support to graduating seniors at all three of Minot's high schools.  Through our affiliation with Scholarship America and our online application, students now have access to many local and national scholarships by completing only one online application.

How are scholarship funds raised?

Scholarship funds are provided from a variety of sources.

*Donations - Members of the Minot community have been very generous in their past support of Minot Area Dollars for Scholars.  We have received donations from both individuals and businesses.

*Grants - in the past we have received grants from the Bank of North Dakota, United Way Youth Board and the Minot Area Community Foundation.  We continue to pursue other grant opportunities.

*Sponsored Scholarships - we currently have two scholarships that are funded by the donor.  Town and Country Credit Union provides a $500 scholarship to a deserving credit union member, and Verendrye Electric Cooperative provides a $500 scholarship to a student whose household is serviced by the cooperative.

*Fundraising activities - our volunteer board works with members of the community on various fundraising activities.  Some of our events include our Relay for Dollars and the Youth Golf Day.

How are Scholarships awarded?

The review of all submitted applications takes place on an annual basis.  Applications are scored anonymously by trained volunteers serving on an awards committee.  Applicants receive points for a variety of qualities, including work experience, school and community activities and academic record.  The awards selection process is objective, nondiscriminatory and makes scholarships available to deserving students.
